The YWCA Domestic Violence Hotline is the only domestic violence hotline in Anne Arundel County. The hotline provides 24/7 domestic violence related crisis intervention and information & referral to community members. The hotline number is 410-222-6800.

Arden House, the YWCA emergency domestic violence shelter, opened its doors in 1984 and to date has served over 1,000 women and children fleeing abusive relationships. The house provides safe shelter and support services to single and parenting women who are victims of domestic violence .

The Domestic Violence Counseling program provides professional, confidential counseling for victims and perpetrators of domestic violence. Group counseling is available for women only on a drop-in basis Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm (child care is available). Daytime and evening appointments available in Arnold. Counseling fees are based on client income. Groups are charged per session. Clients are not turned away based on inability to pay.

YWCA support groups offer a safe, non-threatening environment in which survivors of domestic violence:
The support groups serve as a major step in a woman's on-going recovery process from the crisis and trauma of domestic violence. The support groups are open, confidential, with ongoing discussion and individual participation. Groups are self-directed by attendees and the discussion is facilitated, as needed, by a therapist.
There is an educational component to the support groups, including information pertaining to the cycle of violence, issues of power and control, characteristics of individuals that abuse, emotional abuse, safety planning, the correlation between domestic violence and substance abuse, and the effects of domestic violence on children and pregnancy.
YWCA support groups offer:
Confidentiality Everything that is said within the group stays within the group; No Confrontation Each person has an opportunity to speak without being interrupted or debated; and Support Each person in the group is supported. Participants strive to treat themself and others with consideration and respect, at all times.
